Episode Description

Last week, Congress passed legislation that combined a two-year transportation reauthorization bill that included a measure to extend existing interest rates on federal student loans. On this week's Capital Thinking, host Kevin O'Neill will be joined by analysts in both the transportation and higher education policy areas, to discuss what was in this bill and what it means going forward. Our guests include former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Rodney Slater, Norma Krayem, Jared Fleisher and Dana Weekes as we will break down what the highway and transit provisions in the reauthorization bill mean for infrastructure development in the United States. We will also discuss what the student loan extension means for the continuing policy debate over the emerging bubble in higher education costs.
