Episode Description

For many years, some smokers have enjoyed a significant price discount on cigarettes as long as they were willing to put in a little effort by rolling their own tobacco. However, this particular "good thing" is coming to an end this October as the result of a rider clause in the recent transportation authorization. Join us on this Thursday's Capital Thinking with host Kevin O'Neill who will speak with Darryl Nirenberg to find out the rationale behind this tax increase, and the consequential reactions from both sides of the tobacco industry. Next, what has been happening in the health care area since the Supreme Court confirmed the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act? Returning guest Julie Black, the co-author of a popular health care blog, will provide updates on the health care law and the states' reactions to the Court's decision.
