Episode Description

Addiction of some sort touches the lives of nearly every person in American some way at some time. Understanding how compulsion turns into addiction, who it affects as well as when and how to intervene can be paramount . This episode of Addiction in America will help give us new eyes and a new lens through which to view the suffering.

Rebecca and her guest speakers talk about issues involving substance abuse, eating disorders, sexual addiction, codependency and other types of addiction and how loved ones of those suffering with these addictions can intervene. Our show will also talk about current issues with newer drugs and social problems that they cause. This would include bath salts, methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana and other such drugs. Your calls and email questions will be entertained at the end of most shows.

The goal of our program is to inform and also to provide concrete suggestions for helping those suffering with and around these addictions.

Rebecca Bullion, LCSW, BRI-1

I have worked in the field of addiction and intervention for 23 years, 18 years in private practice. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Board Registered Interventionist and Certified Trauma Therapist. Primarily, I have been doing therapy during the bulk of my practice. My practice focus has included treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, codependency, recovery and marital therapy as well as family therapy for adults and adolescents. I have worked significantly treating eating disorders and am currently working on certification for eating disorder intervention. I have also provided services for assessment for level of care in referring to treatment and case management pre- and post-treatment. I am an certified Level I and II EMDR trauma therapist since 2008. I have been trained in Crisis Intervention Stress Debriefing since 2010 and conduct stabilization management in the aftermath of employee deaths, bank robberies and other crises. I have been a Board Registered Interventionist since 2011. I am also certified by the Department of Transportation as a Substance Abuse Provider since 2006.

I am a current member of the National Association of Alcohol, Drug and Addiction Counselors, the Association of Intervention Specialists, the Network of Independent Interventionists, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as well as a conference speaker in the field of intervention, addiction and family systems.
