Episode Description
Fear is an emotion induced by a perceived threat that causes animals to move quickly away from the location of the perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain or the threat of danger. In short, fear is the ability to recognize danger leading to an urge to confront it or flee from it also known as the fight-or-flight response. However, in extreme cases of fear, a frozen or paralyzed state is a possible response. Fears are thoughts that we have created usually after having a negative experience. We experience a negative event and we reinforce the fear by thinking about it and analyzing its negative impact on our lives. Thus fears are created, perpetuated, and sustained in our minds. Tune in this week for some strategies that just may help you or your loved ones to overcome fears and phobias.
