“Smarter Government” vs. “Smaller Government”
February 14, 2013
Hosted by Squire Patton Boggs
Coinciding with Mardi Gras and the nerve-wracking manhunt taking place in California, President Obama gave his fourth State of the Union address on Tuesday which reached an emotional crescendo when it came to the issue of gun control. In addition to the fight against violence, the President covered a multitude of issues and emphasized the need for a “smarter” government, an idea that was opposed immediately after the State of the Union by the Republican Senator Marco Rubio in his party’s response. Join us on this week’s Capital Thinking radio show with host Kevin O’Neill and our political team of Vince Frillici, Stephen Diaz Gavin and Bob Horn for their takeaways from both addresses and opinions on the role of government in the country’s future and the role of the U.S. on the world stage. Another issue mentioned during Tuesday’s speech was cybersecurity. Norma Krayem will join us to discuss the implication of a long-awaited Executive Order, released after the delivery of the State of the Union, aimed at improving critical infrastructure security.
