Only 12% of marketers sit on company boards. The reason for this is because the performance of marketers in the majority of companies today is pathetic. They haven't kept up with technology, they still rely on traditional marketing whose performance by comparison with digital and social is expensive and ineffective. So marketers have to play second fiddle to the boring financial people who control boards, are conservative and are dream takers. No wonder the US economy is growing at 2.5% per annum. We also discuss why putting all your personal information and photographs on Facebook and other social media sites is idiotic, the National Student Advertising Competition in Phoenix, the need to clearly differentiate yourself from your competitors, and the need to provide information rather than sales skills in order to close clients.
