Fiscal Impasse Update – IP Law Alert – Affordable Care Act Implementation
October 17, 2013
Hosted by Squire Patton Boggs
At the eleventh hour, Congressional Republicans finally conceded in the budget fight that has lasted 16 days and agreed to not block the vote to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling. However, the last-minute agreement only offers temporary reprieve in the nation’s long-running fiscal problems. Join us on this week’s Capital Thinking with host Kevin O’Neill as he is joined by politicos from both the Republican and Democratic parties. Clark Ervin and Stephen Diaz Gavin will discuss what we can expect in the next few months before another shutdown battle reconvenes, and whether the House and Senate to reach accord by December 13 on a long-term financial blueprint for the country. Next, Richard Oparil returns to the show to share some interesting development in IP law that, if passed by the high courts, would disfavor the so-called “patent trolls.” Finally, Karen Thiel is back to update us on the progress of the Affordable Care Act implementation.
