Episode Description

For the past twelve weeks, this show has been featuring guests that have discussed ways in which museums are or can be of value to their communities. We’ve talked about museums as places of powerful learning and cultivators of curiosity. We’ve identified ways that museum can address the needs of their audiences by becoming more empathetic and we’ve identified barriers—both physical and psychological—that keep audiences away. We’ve also examined how museums can be agents of social change. But how do we measure museum value? What are the metrics? Is there benefit in creating a consistent report card like we do for hospitals and other social services? This week’s guest Mary Ellen Munley will help us sort through these issues.
