Pamela Robinson is the CEO of Financial Voyages LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. Financial Voyages LLC provides business management, financial and specialized certification training, consulting and program support services to international organizations and government agencies. The firm partners with clients to develop highly-skilled and productive professionals, managers and senior leaders. Financial Voyages LLC is distinguished by delivering actionable practices for workforce development that support positive economic and social impact in the communities served by their clients.
Pamela’s international perspective was shaped by living and working in Europe, North America and Central America. She holds an MBA in International Business and Finance and is a doctoral candidate, Georgia State University. She holds certificates in Emerging Market Strategies, Georgia State University and Venture Capital Executive Program, Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. In 2013, Pamela received the 2013 Enterprising Women of the Year award from Enterprising Women Magazine. This award honors women business owners who have demonstrated that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship, and stand out as leaders in their communities. In addition to receiving numerous awards in business and leadership she is a member of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and the International Economic Development Council.

Karen Charnow Lior
Karen Charnow Lior is the Executive Director of the Toronto Workforce Innovation Group (TWIG). TWIG conducts research, disseminates information and convenes stakeholders to address workforce development issues in Toronto. Karen been involved with workforce development programs and policy for 20 years. Before joining TWIG, Karen was the National Representative on Training at the Canadian Labour Congress, responsible for apprenticeship, sector councils, workforce adjustment and lifelong learning. From 1992-2002, she was the Executive Director of A Commitment to Training and Employment for Women, an Ontario umbrella group of women’s training and employment services, with a year off to work at the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as a senior policy advisor to the Labour Market Agreement negotiation team. Karen is the author and/or editor of numerous articles on labour force development including, “Promising Practices: Connecting Highly Educated Newcomers to Sector-Specific Employment”, “Shopping for Training”, “Still Shopping for Training”, 2001, and “Innovative Approaches to Apprenticeship”. Karen arrived in Canada in 1987 and, after learning that she needed Canadian experience and Canadian credentials to work in her field, she earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies from York University. She has a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park. She lives with her partner, who is the father of her 2 children. Karen is a community activist and popular educator. View Guest page
Louise Chénier is a Research Associate with the Leadership and Human Resources Research Division of The Conference Board of Canada and Network Manager for the Council on Workplace Health and Wellness – an exclusive network of organizational health management leaders from private and public sector organizations across Canada. Since she joined the Conference Board six years ago, she has participated in research on strategic human resources management; employee health, safety, and wellness; and diversity and inclusion in the workplace. She is currently working on a research project on the management of absenteeism in the workplace. View Guest page
Marcia Ferranto is responsible for the overall administration, management, and operations of WTS International and WTS Foundation. Her responsibilities include the oversight of business operations, planning and evaluation, international programs and events, policy development and implementation, fiscal management, and the growth plan for WTS. Involved in nonprofit executive management for more than 10 years, Marcia also served as the Executive Director of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation in Delaware. Among her accomplishments with the Foundation, Marcia refocused the organization’s mission and vision to an educational establishment, spearheaded a new master plan, and managed more than 300 staff and volunteers. Marcia also held posts with the Delaware Art Museum, including Acting Director, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance and Human Resources, and ran two of her own accounting and payroll firms. Marcia received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Widener University in Chester, PA, and is also a 2006 graduate of the Museum Leadership Institute (MLI), Getty Leadership Institute. She is Chairman of the Board for Sandy Spring Museum in Sandy Spring, Maryland, a member of ASAE, and of the American Association of Museums. Marcia has also been a guest speaker at the New York University, Masters Program, Steinhardt School of Education, Department of Art & Art Professions. Kristen Fyfe-Mills is ASTD’s Senior Manager of Communications. In her role Kristen is responsible for sharing ASTD’s story with external and internal audiences. She guides ASTD’s business units in crafting their strategic communications initiatives and works cross-functionally to support internal communications and employee program knowledge. Kristen also manages ASTD’s annual Employee Learning Week campaign and the society’s professional recognition programs: the BEST Awards and Excellence in Practice Awards. A veteran communicator, Kristen has worked in broadcast and print journalism, advertising, and corporate communications. She is a two-time regional EMMY nominee and Telly Award winner. Stephen Hacker is an ASQ Fellow and current chair of the ASQ Global. Hacker is advisory committee and chair-elect of the ASQ board of directors (2013). In business, Stephen Hacker is a founding partner and CEO of Transformation Systems International, LLC. He consults organizations throughout the world in the areas of transformation methodologies, leadership development, and team performance. His passions are delivering successful transformation initiatives and coaching leaders, as he has done with many wide-ranging organizations and diverse governments across the globe. Hacker has authored several books, including Work Miracles, The Trust Imperative, Transformational Leadership, Transformation Fieldbook, Leading Peak Performance, and most recently How to Coach Individuals, Teams and Organizations to Master Transformational Change. Dr. Linda Kekelis
Dr. Linda Kekelis is Executive Director of Techbridge and has over 20 years of experience designing and leading girls’ programs in STEM. She participates in advisory boards, collaborates with girl-serving organizations, and works with professional groups and corporate partners to promote females’ participation in science, technology, and engineering. Dr. Kekelis conducts research, participates in national conferences, and writes extensively, translating research into practical applications for educators, professionals, and parents. She has a master’s degree in linguistics from the University of Southern California and a doctorate in special education from the University of California, Berkeley. When she was thinking about her future, Linda had two dreams based on the role models around her—to be a teacher or a mother. Phil Lafontaine is the Director of the Professional Learning Support Division within the California Department of Education (CDE). His division oversees many statewide professional development programs as well as provides technical assistance to schools and districts in all curricular areas including STEM. Currently, he is California’s lead in the national effort to develop the Next Generation of Science Standards, which will become the basis for the revised California Science Standards. His division also provides assistance in the areas of both teacher and administrator quality and certifications. Prior to becoming the director, he was the administrator of the Mathematics and Science Leadership Office at CDE. Phil has provided professional development seminars and workshops both statewide and nationally in the area of science education, while he was a Regional Director for the K-12 Alliance, a statewide professional development organization of WestEd. As a curriculum writer, Phil has developed an environmental education curriculum entitled, Earth Resources, A Case Study –Oil, and has provided guidance on various curricular science projects including video productions. Additionally, as a professional teacher for 21 years, Phil taught earth science and environmental science courses at the secondary level. Phil graduated from California State University at Chico, and holds a professional teaching credential in both music and Earth science. He received his Masters of Arts in Education, specializing in Educational Leadership, from California State University, Sacramento. View Guest page
Jack Levis is on the board of directors for the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) and holds advisory council positions for multiple universities. Jack Levis, Director of Process Management, is responsible for providing operational technology solutions. The projects that Jack’s group manages have used advanced analytics to reengineer current processes in an effort to streamline the business and maximize productivity. Under Jack’s direction, UPS has completed integration of multiple operations systems, requiring extensive system engineering, usability and analytics provisions. These systems ultimately synchronize the flow of data throughout UPS, allowing the seamless movement of goods, funds and information. Jack has been the business owner, process designer, and program manager for UPS’ award winning Package Flow Technology suite of systems. That suite of tools and process redesign has been a breakthrough change for UPS, resulting in a reduction of 85 million miles per year. His team has designed UPS’ next generation of dispatching technologies which use advanced optimizations. The world class optimizations and systems called ORION are beginning deployment and will provide significant additional benefits to UPS. Having earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology, from California State University Northridge, Jack also holds a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. Karen A. Peterson
Karen A. Peterson, M.Ed. is the Chief Executive Officer for the EdLab Group. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for the National Girls Collaborative Project, SciGirls – A New National TV Series, the Computer Science Collaboration Project, and Bio-ITEST: New Frontiers in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, all of which are funded by the National Science Foundation. These projects all address gender, racial and socioeconomic underrepresentation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Peterson serves on local, regional and national boards which develop and administer programs designed to increase underrepresented students’ interests in STEM. For over 20 years, Peterson has been active in education as a classroom teacher, university instructor, pre-service and in-service teacher educator, program administrator, and researcher. A graduate of the University of Washington, Bothell campus, her Master’s thesis focused on gendered attitudes towards computer use in education. View Guest page
Shekhar Saxena MD
Shekhar Saxena MD, Director, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse World Health Organization, CH-1211, Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Saxena is a psychiatrist by training, working at World Health Organization since 1998. He is responsible for implementation of WHO's activities in the area of mental, neurological and substance use disorders. His responsibilities include evaluating evidence on effective public health measures and providing advice and technical assistance to ministries of health on mental, developmental, neurological and substance use disorders issues and establishing partnerships with academic centres and civil society organizations. Dr. Saxena is leading WHO’s work to implement the Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan adopted by the World Health Assembly in May 2013, which incorporates actions related promotion of mental health, prevention of mental disorders and early identification and treatment and care for people with mental disorders. Robert Spurrier Boege
Robert Spurrier Boege (“Bur—ga”) is Executve Director of the STEMConnector™ Project and has served as Executive Director of ASTRA, the Alliance for Science & Technology Research in America since December 2000. Boege also serves as Vice President for the ASTRA / STEMconnector partnership. Boege has served as principal investigator for three major projects related to the STEM Workforce and Innovation. Boege has served in various positions within the government, the nonprofit sector and industry. He brings extensive legal, database visualization, management and digital media expertise to the policy arena. Boege has created documentation for taxonomic and nomenclature projects related to litigation support activities, legal citation, innovation, and workforce policy. He managed and created digital products for the Congressional Research Service, where he served in its American Law Division. He also directed retrospective cataloging conversions (RECON) of print materials to digital formats at the U.S. Library of Congress, and headed the MARC Miscellaneous Languages Verification Unit IV for the Library. Boege has created and supervised litigation database support projects, and overseen the coding and indexing of massive amounts of evidence for clients.
