Episode Description

The 2014 NCAA Mens National Championship is tonight, and it will be the most unlikely matchup in tournament history. Out of the millions of people who filled out brackets this year, only 486 picked the correct final matchup. Tonights matchup features 7th seed UConn ~vs~ 8th seed Kentucky. Since 1985, at least a No. 1,2,or 3 seed has been in every single final. Before this year, the highest combined total of seeds in a final was 11 in 2011 UConn (3) vs Butler (8). Neither one of these 2 teams were even playing in the tournament last season. Kentucky was playing in the NIT and UConn was on a season ban for academic probation. When the Champion is crowned tonight, no more than .7 percent of yahoo sports users will have picked the correct winner! Not a lot of people believed that either of these 2 teams could make it this far, but they definatley believed in themselves. When you believe in yourself you are never the underdog. My guest on the show this week is Lori Yokiel from The Platform Magazine. Lori is no stranger to overcoming obstacles and adversity! You will not want to miss her amazing story of strength and perserverance!

This show is designed to help you make fitness a priority! Everyone sees how important fitness is in living a healthy life, but many people still fail to make it a priority. Most of us have very busy schedules. Some have kids at home who are always involved in activities. Some have to travel a lot for work. We use all of these obstacles as excuses to eat unhealthy meals and skip workouts. We put fitness off because we think we are too busy in the present, and we tell ourselves that we will get to it when we have more time. The problem is that the day we are waiting for, when we will have more time to dedicate to getting in better shape, will most likely never come. The only way to begin living a healthier life is to make fitness a priority regardless of how busy you are. It won’t always be easy, but it is a fight that anyone can win. All you have to do is make a decision to do it! Be Fit for Life will help you win the fight against your excuses!

After almost 15 years as an owner/operator in the worlds of convenience, she found her true passion and purpose in nutrition. Changing careers she received a Bachelor of Science from Kaplan University in Nutrition, Health & Wellness followed by a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Certificate. Kellie’s philosophy is that there is no one-size fits all diet. Because of bio-individuality (each one of us is different), most diets will work for some people and not for others. We need to eat nutrient dense, whole foods that have been properly prepared – real food, as close to the form it was originally grown/raised in, prepared in a way that preserves or even enhances the nutritional value of the food. She believes that it is important to investigate how the body is using the food as well as understanding what is happening in the bigger context of an individual’s life. She knows that we are obviously more than what we eat and that can have a very big impact on how the body deals with food. Kellie helps her clients identify and move toward their personal ultimate health goals. Kellie is the author of The Right Plan 2 Week Fat Loss Program and Cleanse & Detoxify Your Body: 28 days to better health using nutrient-dense whole foods. Todd Markley

As the founder and creator of Success Meals KC™, Todd Markley has more than a little bit of experience in the world of fitness and nutrition. Todd has been a gym owner and a personal trainer for the past 20 years and worked with a myriad of different people. The one common thread Markley noticed among all these people was that while they shared a commitment to fitness and the desire to be lean and toned few were actually making steady progress toward their eventual goals. Todd began to question these people about their workouts, lifestyles and nutrition habits. One thing he repeatedly noticed was that despite their commitment to exercise they left their nutritional needs to chance. Markley began to delve further into this quandary. He knew these people were nutrition savvy, they understood the importance nutrition played on attaining their goals, so why were they neglecting this one vital component? What he soon realized was that while these people were willing to take greater responsibility for their health, convenience remained the key driver in their dietary choices. Time constraints made it difficult for them to make food decisions that were nutritionally based. As a result, they were making poor food choices and skipping meals altogether in an attempt to keep up with the hustle and bustle of today’s fast paced lifestyle. Markley knew that for his clients to be successful he would have to find a way to simplify eating healthy. It was at this point that the answer became inevitably clear. To ensure that his clients received the precise nutrients, in the right amounts and at the right times, was to do it for them. And thus was the inception of Success Meals™. View Guest page
