2014 Supreme Court Decisions Round-Up
July 3, 2014
Hosted by Squire Patton Boggs
On this week’s Capital Thinking, we will offer a condensed program focusing on the most recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions as the high court wraps up its 2014 term. First, host Kevin O’Neill will be joined by Michael Lotito of Littler to discuss the significance of two major labor cases– National Labor Relations Board v. Noel Canning and Harris v. Quinn. Next, D. Lewis Clark, Jr. of Squire Patton Boggs will weigh in on Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, which brought together the issues of birth control, federal government, business and religion. For the second half hour, we will first replay last week’s discussion on another major Supreme Court case, Utility Air Regulatory Group v. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which dealt with greenhouse gas emission regulatory authorities. We will close the show with a replay on Title IX compliance, the federal law that prohibits discrimination based on gender at schools that receive federal funding
