Episode Description

Kathryn interviews UCLA School of Medicine professor Daniel J. Siegel MD, author of “No-Drama Discipline: The Whole-Brain Way to Calm the Chaos and Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind”. The pioneering experts behind the bestselling “Whole-Brain Child” will challenge your notion of what discipline is, its practicality when it comes to child rearing, and how we can best implement it going forward. Daniel J. Siegel M.D. is the founding co-director of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Kathryn also interviews Stephen Fife, author of “The 13th Boy: A Memoir of Education and Abuse”. When parents send their children to school, they are trusting teachers and administrators with their most precious treasure. Sad to say that trust is betrayed all too often, even by elite and very expensive private schools. In “The 13th Boy” Fife has written a compelling, soul-baring narrative of his experience of education and abuse at the prestigious Horace Mann School in New York City.
