Episode Description

In honor of Veteran's Day, today's show tells heartwarming stories of how veterans and animals are rescuing each other. Returning vets have been stigmatized by headlines about vets with PTSD running amuck and hurting others or themselves. But, this show takes a look at the positive side - how vets are helping take care of wounded and abandoned parrots, wolfdogs and other animals, while these creatures are helping the wounded and abandoned veterans heal. Matthew Simmons and Lorin LIndner, PhD, MPH are the founders of the Birds of a Feather program of the Serenity Park Parrot Sanctuary at the West L.A. VA and the Warriors and Wolves program at the Lockwood Animal Rescue Center in Ventura County, California.
