Episode Description

Aviation provides the perfect metaphor for life and its changes. There is the constant and continuous cycle of learning and training as well as adapting to the changes within the environment. Our guest, Wes Kautzmann, a certified flight instructor and aviation entrepreneur will provide more of the aviator's perspective through understanding Pilot in Command, DECIDE (Detect, Estimate, Choose, Identify, Do, Evaluate), 3P (Perceive, Process, Perform) and OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) and how they apply not only to better aviation decision making but to better overall decision making. After all, whether in aviation or in life, we fly the weather we find, not necessarily the weather we planned. Success in both is determined by how we detect and react to changes, both planned and unplanned.

Leadership Takeoff: Real Leadership for Real People

Archives Available on VoiceAmerica Empowerment Channel

Leadership Takeoff is about developing better personal and professional leadership. Since it stands to reason that we can’t be better organizational leaders unless we can best lead ourselves, we will always be looking to provide strategies, tactics and tools to better our own personal leadership. We will also explore better ways to be more effective as a business team member, managers and executives.

Since life never stops and we can’t just pull-over to take a break, we need to be the Pilot in Command, or PIC of our own lives, safely guiding ourselves through the turbulence of life and ultimately making safe and successful landings. We’ll show you how to do it through a variety of means, guests and always with an entertaining component or two.
