Up Close with Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp Inc
June 9, 2015
Hosted by Chris Tinney
The United States is the #1 importer of hemp, yet the USA does not allow its own farmers to grow it. This is because it has been confused with marijuana. Presidents Washington and Jefferson both grew hemp. Americans were legally bound to grow hemp during the Colonial Era and Early Republic. The federal government subsidized hemp during the Second World War and U.S. farmers grew about a million acres of hemp as part of that program. The Hemp seed is nutritious and contains more essential fatty acids than any other source, is second only to soybeans in complete protein (but is more digestible by humans), is high in B-vitamins, and is a good source of dietary Hemp produces more pulp per acre than timber on a sustainable basis, and can be used for every quality of paper. Join us as we talk with Bruce Perlowin the CEO of Hemp Inc. We'll get an update on the state of legalization, learn how hemp can heal the planet and how his company is helping educate the public about hemp
