Episode Description

No sane person would choose market timing as an investment strategy for 2016, but having Jonathan Clements as our scheduled guest just three chaotic weeks into January is as perfect as timing can get. The problems facing investors are clear enough: The 2015 "bull market" ended the year with the S&P 500 in negative territory. The Federal Reserve's quarter point rate hike reassured those who saw it as confirming economic improvement, but others saw it as threatening bond prices, and still others worried how much further rates would have to rise to restore the Fed's power to control monetary policy. Then, of course, there's China, the Middle East, slow economic recovery in Europe, and much more. But there isn't a better person to sort all this out with than Jonathan Clements. He sees money as part of a larger thing called life and he communicates his extraordinary knowledge with empathy and wit.
