Over time we have learn to avoid the uncomfortable emotions of anxiety, sadness, worry, shame, or guilt and seek the pleasure of ones like happiness, joy and bliss. Whether it is due to our upbringing, fear, or that showing emotions is seen as a weakness, our avoidance of these "negative" emotions has lead to our inability to process and release them.
