As the first air sign of the zodiac, Gemini helps us engage the mind, create connections with others, and adapt to change. It’s planetary ruler, Mercury, is the messenger and communicator, the trickster and the psychopomp. He is the god of thresholds and passages, bridging spaces in our mental and physical landscapes, our spiritual tour guide on our journey through life.
When the fast moving planet Mercury stations retrograde, he invites us to slow down, turn our awareness inward, and receive his communications and insights. If we take the time to listen, Mercury helps us navigate our world, adapt, and move forward productively in the long run.
Special guest soul-centered astrologer Gray Crawford describes archetypal Mercury for us, sharing stories from Greco-Roman mythology. He explains the Mercury retrograde cycle, its symbolic meaning, and guides us through the Mercury retrogrades we experience this year.

Janey McCarthy, MEd, left her technology career behind to become a Jungian Karmic Astrologer after discovering what Carl Jung had confirmed: The natal chart is a sacred, geometrically perfected personal database. Professional recognition as an astrologer and writer came when the website Planetwaves.net chose her article ‘The Silence Between the Words’, from 500 submissions, for the 2014 Annual Edition of Listen. She offers workshops and presentations, and counsels her astrology mentors, peers and clients from the east coast.
Mary Jo Wevers, PhD “re-discovered” astrology late in life, and found it came to her intuitively and easily. An enthusiastic and inspired astrologer for 15 years, she counsels clients, teaches classes and gives workshops and seminars on special topics in astrology. She writes a newsletter and has a blog on her web site, MaryJoWevers.com. She is a featured speaker at local metaphysical schools and churches and has been a conversation leader in the Northwest Astrology and Tarot Salon.
As co-hosts we live on different sides of the country, have different backgrounds, life experiences and life styles. We each bring unique intellectual perspectives to the show. We are ‘Aquarian sisters’ at heart. We catalyze each other’s insights and individual curiosities.
