Episode Description

Many of us are racing faster and taking on more. Working harder and paying attention less poses serious costs to our ability to lead, innovate and live meaningful lives. While we think we can multitask, research shows that our brain can only focus on one task at a time. We end up going 40% slower and making twice as many mistakes. Mindfulness is present, open and engaged attention. When you pay attention, you build self-awareness, which is the heart of leadership. Scanning your internal and external environments provides clues to your impact. Often associated with Buddhism, mindfulness has become the subject of a substantial amount of research. A large number of organizations are teaching mindfulness to employees, including Google, McKinsey, BlackRock, Aetna, and the US Army. Josh Ehrlich, Ph.D., an expert on mindful leadership, will share, and help you build a plan to implement a sampling of the tools he has created over the last 20 years to help professionals lead more effectively.
