Episode Description

Prince's death is still shrouded in mystery. It has been attributed to an "accidental overdose of Fentanyl," an opioid. But, where these pills came from is still under investigation. Did he get them illegally, or did doctors prescribe them, and if so, who? Is this yet another celebrity death caused by doctors treating them like 'special patients' and not doing the right thing because they didn't want to lose bragging rights? Several doctors are at risk for being sued for wrongful death. Today's guest, Jill F. Cohen, a D.C. attorney who specializes in medical malpractice, analyzes what each did wrong and the issues involved in filing a wrong death lawsuit today. Was Prince's death willful or wrongful? If he hadn't left the hospital against medical advice, would he have been saved? For how long? Was his death by pain pills inevitable, if he continued to refuse surgery to fix the medical problems causing his pain? Today's show explores these questions and more.
