Episode Description

Steven Sanders is the CEO and Chief Investment Strategist for Stoneridge Investment Partners and institutional money management firm based in Philadelphia. He has an aggressive growth strategy for his firm that is largely dependent on the fast but measured acquisition of other firms. In fact, he already acquired 3 firms in the last 2 years and shows no signs of stopping. I am going to talk with him about what he has learned about the role of culture and organization dynamics in mergers & acquisition and how that role impacted the transactions he’s already completed. We will also discuss his lessons learned and the impact those lessons have had on the sustainable success of these transactions, and how they will inform future transactions.

How does a fast-growing, risk tolerant company merge with a company that values consensus and careful decision making? Are you headed for a culture clash? Do your people understand and agree with the strategy? How do you choose between two CFOs? While the financials may work for a deal, reaping the benefits of a merger or acquisition is a notoriously risky undertaking when organizational development factors are not considered.

Our show focuses on the capabilities and best practices required for companies to master the integration phase of M and A relating to people, culture, skills sets, organization structure and behaviors. We interview top executives across a variety of industries to explore success stories, best practices and lessons learned from traversing the risky but often rewarding world of M and A.

Whether you are on the buy or sell side of a transaction, whether the capital or the executive, you will benefit from the insights and keys to success discussed.
