Margaret E. Buchanan
Margaret E. Buchanan is the president and publisher of Enquirer Media and vice president of the Gannett Interstate Group. Owned by the Gannett Co., Inc., Enquirer Media is a multimedia provider with more than 50 distinct local print and online news and information brands including The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Kentucky Enquirer, Community Press and Recorder weekly newspapers and the Cincinnati.com network. When Margaret assumed the role of president and publisher in May 2003, she became the first woman to hold this position since the founding of The Enquirer in 1841. After working in sales positions with IBM and Cincinnati Bell, Margaret began her newspaper career in 1986 as a general executive for The Enquirer. From 1987-1996, she held the positions of advertising director and marketing director at the Rockford Register Star in Rockford, Illinois. In March of 1996, she became the president and publisher of The Star-Gazette in Elmira, New York and held that position until 1999. And prior to being named the president and publisher of Enquirer Media, Margaret held the same title at The Idaho Statesman in Bose, Idaho. She was also the vice president of the Pacific Newspaper Group. Margaret serves on numerous Greater Cincinnati boards including the University of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Business Committee, the Cincinnati City Development Corporation (3CDC), the Marvin Lewis Community Fund and UC Health. She was the first woman to chair the Fine Arts Fund community-wide campaign in 2007. Additionally, she is an Ohio Newspaper Association officer.
