Barbara Strom Thompson

Barbara Strom Thompson is a Child Development Specialist with over three decades of experience in the fields of child advocacy and family life. Her experience ranges from administering day care licensing programs and supervising a state licensing program to consulting on employer-supported child care programs and teaching at the university level. She holds a MA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati and a MA in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University, where her research examined the influence of societal violence on play in early childhood. Since 1990, Thompson has worked in private practice in the Washington, DC area, focusing on parent education, program evaluation and staff training, worksite seminars on family life issues, and individual consultations with parents, teachers, and school administrators. Her goal is to help parents, families, and schools navigate the normal developmental issues that arise from birth to age 12.
