Suzan Hutchinson

Suzan Hutchinson is Director of Connectivity for the nonprofit organization You Are Loved (www.you-are-loved.org) and a long-term survivor of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Now in her early 50s, Suzan is one of the original survivors of TSS, from the days of the Rely Tampon scandal. For those of you who don’t know about this scandal, in the 1980s, Proctor & Gamble introduced a "newer, better, and more absorbent" tampon, which they marketed heavily. During her teen years, tampons were Suzan’s menstrual product of choice for her heavy periods. At the age of 21, she received a solicitation from Proctor & Gamble. Would she be willing to try this new, more absorbent product? She did—eagerly. Suzan will tell listeners about what happened after she tried Rely Tampons. She will also tell us how—and why—she became a spokesperson for the not-for-profit organization; You Are Loved, what the organization is about, and why every woman should think twice before using another tampon.
