Barbara Strongin
Barbara Strongin is Director of Administration and Lecturer in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She served as Senior Vice President and Director of Operations for Christie’s Auction House for 26 years. She created and taught classes for the auction house regarding the auction process as well as rules and regulations in the auction industry. She pioneered the standardization of auctioneering practices on a global basis. As a Licensed Auctioneer in New York, she assisted the New York City Consumer Affairs Department to rewrite regulations governing auctions. In addition to her administrative abilities at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, she lectures in the Master of Arts program on the auction business in New York, London, and Hong Kong.
