Kim Saxe

Kim Saxe is Director of the Innovation Lab at The Nueva School, a lecturer at Stanford University, a board member of the Institute for Applied Tinkering, and a former engineer and R&D director. A pioneer in Design Thinking and Design Engineering in education, Kim has invented and taught constructivist, project-based curricula across all subject areas in grades K-8. She translates Master’s-level mindsets and methodologies of Design Thinking into compelling experiences for younger students. Kim directs the Design Thinking, Design Engineering, and Entrepreneurship programs at Nueva. She continually reinvents Nueva’s 4,000 sq. ft. Innovation Lab, designed in partnership with Stanford’s Institute of Design (d.school), and oversees the award-winning, competitive robotics and Tech Challenge teams. Kim created and piloted a student engineering curriculum for 4th-6th grade students at Nueva. She was one of four speakers invited to present at a Design Thinking Conference in Singapore.
