Lauren Bjorkman
Lauren Bjorkman is the author of two YA novels, MY INVENTED LIFE and MISS FORTUNE COOKIE. She grew up on a sailboat, sharing the tiny forecastle with her sister and the sail bags. They are still friends. For 5 years her family sailed from California to Florida, across the Atlantic, and back to Brazil and Argentina. On the voyage, Lauren and her sister sewed clothes for stuffed animals, became excellent beachcombers, and wrote inappropriate lyrics to old songs. Their dad read them stories by the light of a kerosene lamp. After studying Mandarin in college, she honeymooned in China, learning to take little space on a bus and mastering chopsticks.
