Dr. Dorothy McCoy is the author of several books and articles. The most recent is her 2nd edition of Should I Chose Anger? Training for Law Enforcement, Security and Leaders. Dr. McCoy received her BA from University of South Carolina, Masters in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel & her doctorate from the University of Sarasota. She is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, a national certified therapist, a NOVA-trained community crisis responder and a licensed professional counselor. In private practice for 15 years, Dr. McCoy is a researcher, a psychotherapist & a law enforcement counselor. She has served in many positions such as the Chairman of both a Rape Crisis Center & an Infant Fatality Board. She has been a hiring consultant for police departments in her area, is a former Commissioner for the USC Western Carolina Higher Education Commission & is a former member of the SC Governor’s Arson Task Force.
