Barbara Lawton

Barbara Lawton is the President & CEO of Americans for Campaign Reform (www.acrreform.org). Previously she served as Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin. Barbara made public funding of elections a central issue in her campaigns, and was spokesperson for Wisconsin’s Citizen’s Panel for a Clean Election Option, led by Chief Justice Nate Heffernan. An editorial in the Madison, WI Capital Times in 2006 called Barbara “the boldest and most active lieutenant governor in state history.” She graduated from Lawrence University summa cum laude. She earned a Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Lawrence University and an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Arts & Design. She serves on the Advisory Board to the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy & Service; on the American Association of Colleges and Universities National Leadership Council; and on the Advisory Board to Oxfam America’s Sisters on the Planet.
