Dr. Dorothy McCoy is the author of several books including The Manipulative Man and Should I Chose Anger? Training for Law Enforcement, Security and Leaders. Dr. McCoy received her BA from University of South Carolina, Masters in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel. Her doctorate is from the University of Sarasota. She is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, a national certified therapist, a NOVA-trained community crisis responder and a licensed professional counselor. In private practice for 16 years, Dr. McCoy is a researcher, a psychotherapist and a law enforcement counselor. She has served in many positions including the Chairman of both a Rape Crisis Center & an Infant Fatality Board. She has been a hiring consultant for police departments in her area, is a former Commissioner for the USC Western Carolina Higher Education Commission, & is a former member of the South Carolina Governor’s Arson Task Force.
