Suvo Sarkar

Suvo Sarkar is a consumer banking and wealth management professional with over 25 years of multi-functional experience with 5 leading banks and in multiple geographies in Asia and the Middle East. Currently responsible for the retail banking, private banking, wealth management and consumer finance businesses for Emirates NBD, the largest bank by assets in UAE, Suvo headed the consumer and affluent banking businesses of National Bank of Abu Dhabi till mid-2012. While at NBAD, Suvo revamped the business with a new brand, new products, re-engineered processes and a new sales and service culture. Suvo has over 18 years in experience with Citibank, ANZ Grindlays and Standard Chartered. His last position in Standard Chartered was regional head of wealth management for Middle East & South Asia. Prior to this, as country head for Standard Chartered's consumer business in Indonesia, Suvo helped treble the bank's balance sheet through the Asian crisis, and established successful retail banking and wealth management businesses. Suvo has a degree in engineering and is an MBA gold medalist from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management. He is a qualified investment consultant and has trained at INSEAD and Oxford University. He serves as chairman on the boards of Emirates Money, ENBD Asset Management and ENBD Securities and as a director on the board of Tanfeeth. He speaks regularly at global and regional conferences on retail banking, and is a media spokesperson on industry trends. He is also an advisor to Abu Dhabi University.
