Matthew Schutter

Matthew Schutter

Matthew Schutter is an elected Penn Forest Township Auditor in Pennsylvania. He was elected to this partisan office in 2013. As a staunch proponent of transparency in government, Matthew was shocked to discover that out of a $4 million budget, $1.6 million is unaccounted for. Other government officials have forbidden Matthew – the elected town auditor – from being present for audits conducted by independent auditors. Of course, Matthew Schutter refused to back down. He’s filed criminal complaints, and worked to shed light on this situation. A passionate and effective elected official, Matthew shows how much difference even one individual can make.
