Michael Pinedo

Michael Pinedo is Julius Schlesinger Professor of Operations Management in the department of Information, Operations and Management Sciences at the Stern School of Business at New York University. From 1982-1997, he taught in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research department at Columbia University. His research focuses on the modeling of production and service systems, and, more specifically, on the planning and scheduling of these systems. Recently, Michael’s research has focused on operational risk in financial services. He authored the books, “Scheduling: Theory, Algorithms and Systems'' and “Planning and Scheduling in Manufacturing and Services'', and co-authored “Queueing Networks: Customers, Signals and Product Form Solutions''. Michael actively participated in the design and development of systems at Goldman Sachs, Philips Electronics, and Siemens. He is associate editor of Management Science and of the Journal of Operational Risk, as well as other journals.
