Meagan O’Nan
Meagan O’Nan is a lesbian, living in Mississippi, one of the several states which has not yet agreed to allow gay marriage. She has bravely agreed to tell her story in a book entitled “Courage: Agreeing to Disagree is Not Enough”. An athlete who won scholarships to college based on her talents; an active Christian with an active social life, a good family and strong friendships, she was broken apart by the power of her own coming out experience. Later, she and her partner moved back to Mississippi to face the challenge of coming out in the middle of the Bible Belt of America. And this past year, she faced another big fear—that of getting married to that same partner. She comes to the Authentic Living show to bridge the gap between Christianity and sexual orientation. She demonstrates the overcoming necessary to believing in oneself enough to claim one’s human rights.
