Donald “Max” Noel



For 30 years MAX NOEL served as a criminal investigative agent in the San Francisco Division of the FBI. Max was involved in investigations of the Weathermen Underground, Patty Hearst’s kidnapping, the Bulgarian terrorist hijacking of a PSA flight, Teamster’s president Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance, the investigation & prosecution of a sitting Federal District Judge & the investigation & conviction of San Francisco Chinatown organized crime figure Raymond “Shrimp Boy Chow” and Hong Kong Wo Hop To Triad leader Peter Chong. Max was chosen to serve on the newly created UNABOM Task Force in 1993. Three years later, after Ted Kaczynski was identified as the principle bomber suspect, Max and two others arrested Kaczynski at his rural mountain cabin outside Lincoln, Montana. Max and four others were recognized with the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service. Today, Max serves as a member of the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation’s Deadly Force Review Board.
