Thomas Otter is the Vice President of Product Management for Employee Central at SuccessFactors, an SAP Company. In May this year, he joined SuccessFactors from Gartner, where he was a Research Vice President covering human capital management (HCM) technology. He was also Gartner's lead analyst on SAP from 2009 to 2011. He has a strong background in HCM trends and technologies, including core HR, payroll, talent management and workforce analytics. He also has a deep interest in shared services and business process outsourcing, and new technologies such as social software, mobile, analytics and cloud computing can improve HR and overall organizational performance. Thomas also has experience European HCM compliance issues, such as data protection law. Prior to joining Gartner, Thomas worked at SAP in a variety of roles, including business development, sales and key account strategy. He has extensive experience in global HR technology deployments, especially with larger multinational organizations. He grew up in South Africa, has worked in the US and the UK, but now lives in Heidelberg, Germany. Thomas holds an LLM in Computer Law, a PDM in HR Management and a BA (hons) in Political Science.
