Katie Schaar



Katie Schaar has over a decade of experience as a Los Angeles-based professional dancer and choreographer. She grew up in Dallas, TX and moved to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount University, where she earned a BA in Communications Studies and Dance and graduated as Valedictorian of the School of Communications and Fine Arts. From a young age, Katie was recognized for her versatility as a dancer, her collaborative spirit, her intellect, and her strong teaching ability; and she began working as an assistant choreographer to the industry’s most respected choreographers. In this role, she has worked extensively alongside Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, RJ Durell, Nick Florez, and Michael Rooney; and has had the opportunity to work closely with such stars as Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta Jones, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Annie Lennox, Katie Holmes, Paula Abdul, David Hasselhoff, Cher, P!NK, Megan Mulally, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift. Performance credits include television programs Drop Dead Diva, House M.D., Dancing with the Stars, the American Music Awards, the European Music Awards, and feature films The Muppets and Rock of Ages. Working with P!NK, Katie was assistant choreographer on The Truth About Love world tour, the Try music video, and P!NK’s show-stopping live performance of Try at the American Music Awards. Highlighted assistant choreographer credits from this past year include Taylor Swift's hit video for Shake it Off, Katy Perry's Prismatic World Tour, and the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show. With over 8 years of experience as a dance convention faculty member, Katie is also a passionate teacher for all generations of dancers. She has recently focused this passion by collaborating with her husband Nick Cutri, who is a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Katie and Nick have created SugarfootTherapy.com as an online resource to educate dancers on exercise science and injury prevention.
