Honorable Janice Winfrey

Honorable Janice M. Winfrey was elected as City Clerk of Detroit in 2006. She is currently serving her 3rd Term as City Clerk. Clerk Winfrey methodically and simultaneously implemented two new voting systems in Detroit and set precedence in the election community for early and accurate result reporting. Under her leadership Detroit has received grants to improve voting access for our military service men and women, their dependents and our overseas citizens. The City of Detroit was the first municipality in Michigan to allow eligible residents to apply for absentee ballots by touch-screen-enabled devices due to Winfrey's leadership. Also another technological milestone is the creation of the Vote 4 Detroit mobile app that provides election information to voters such as polling locations as well as information on candidates at the local, state, and federal levels.
