Kitty Carter

Kitty Carter – strong, passionate, persistent, committed, smart, loving, appreciative & loyal. I married my HS sweetheart Keith 37 years ago & raised three sons together (Kee,Cassidy & Colby). I have 5 grand children of whom I live & breathe. Grew up dancing taking tap, ballet, jazz, baton, tumbling & dramatic acting. During my teen yrs I spent every second available in NYC & LA taking class. From Joe Tremaine to Gus Giordano to Luigi. Broadway was my jam for sure & to this day I love the song & dance. Attended SMU & received my BFA. Studied with the greats, Nakita Talin, Toni Beck, Bob Beard, David Kirby, Karen Kriete & Betty Ferguson. They all collectively turned me.... From princess to python. In a good way of course. Professionally, besides my job here at BTW for the past 12 years, I am also the owner/director of Kitty Carter’s Dance Factory for the past 30 years. 300 students M-Th (3:30- 10:30) & four non-professional companies that perform as well as compete locally/nationally. I serve as the technical coach/advisor for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders organization and CMT show “Making the Team” for the past 9 years as well as training candidates that will be auditioning each year. In spare time .... I’m a panel member of the great TACA organization, which extends their hand to so many new and existing arts in DFW. Winter weekends are spent mostly with family but also judging for competitions, teaching master classes in addition to visiting the east and west coast networking myself and for my dancers. I’ve had several offers for TV shows that the shoe hasn’t quite fit but the interest is still circling the tent. Most recent- January addition of “Dance Teacher” mag. Teachers tools article- Up close with Kitty Carter Dallas Morning news February 4th ... .... Arts and Life section 3E By Alan Peppard -Super Bowl connection “Katy Perry’s Dallas choreographer”. (Katie&Nick) So many, many students that I’m still apart of their lives. Lucky lady indeed.....
