Joy Watt
Joy Watt has enjoyed a 17 year career at the nexus of education, technology and diversity. She is currently the director of technology coordination in the elementary school division of Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, CA. Joy founded the Elementary School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Lab at Crossroads which serves to expand the scope of technology to include "making" while merging design thinking with progressive curriculum. When she is not at Crossroads, she works to introduce under-served students to the world of programming and engineering through fun coding and robotics projects in hopes of seeing more students of color entering STEAM occupational fields in the future.
Previous professional experiences include her role with the Office of Minority Affairs at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill where she worked to identify, recruit and retain underrepresented groups and Colorado State University
