Catherine Ramos
Catherine Ramos is a progressive, arts and social justice educator, and the Elementary School Assistant Director and Curriculum Coordinator at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, in Santa Monica, CA. Dedicated to SPEAKING UP AGAINST BIAS, Cat is a relentless researcher, collaborator and advocate for addressing RACE, IDENTITY, DIVERSITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE and ACTION. Beginning with the selection of six ALL-SCHOOL READS focusing on four anti-bias domains, and introducing teachers and administrators to the Teaching Tolerance Anti-bias Framework and the Perspectives for a Diverse America literacy-based curriculum, XRDS embarked on a yearlong, K-5 Social Justice exploration.
Cat began her teaching career in NYC, after earning her M.Ed. in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, and pursued Educational Communication and Technology doctoral coursework at NYU. Cat also worked for Children’s Television Workshop as an Executive Producer of educational software.
