Amardeep Kaleka
Amardeep Kaleka is the youngest son of Satwant Singh Kaleka, the President of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin who heroically died trying to protect his community’s Church on August 5th, 2012. Amar is a former teacher, an Emmy Award winning filmmaker, and a community organizer. His lobbying work in Washington DC on gun legislation and hate crimes has been toted by insiders as a remarkable show of candor and straight talk. He is not only respected by many on Capital Hill but also by many hard working blue collar families who see him as “one of their own.” In 2014, Kaleka, a long time Democrat challenged Paul Ryan (R) for his seat in congress. Ultimately, Amar lost, but his message was clear. The political system is broken, and the only way to fix it is by being active in it. In other words, "Be the change you wish to see".
