Elaine Johnson James

Before she became the first black woman partner at Berger Singerman, Elaine Johnson James had already compiled an impressive record: She was the first black woman hired by not one but two other prestigious law firms, the first black partner at Nason Yeager, and the first black person in Harvard Law School history to become editor-in-chief of one of its law reviews. As a member of the Berger Singerman's Dispute Resolution Team, James counts Fortune 100 companies, governmental entities and nonprofit corporations, insurance companies, corporations, banks, and national and local real estate developers among her clients. She is certified as an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association, a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast, and a member of the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession.
