Jeff Meek
Jeff Meek is a World War II historian, writer and author of the book, They Answered the Call, and managing editor of The Hot Springs Village Voice newspaper. Jeff spent 30 years as teacher. Over the years, Jeff developed a love of history and after their son joined the Marine Corps in 1996, Jeff and Jeanne got interested in learning more about there father’s World War II service. From there he started researching and reading about the war. Part of the research was doing oral histories with World War II veterans. Since January 2007, Jeff has completed 286 veteran oral histories in Hot Springs Village. He tells the veteran’s stories in his Hot Springs Village Voice columns, “They Answered the Call,” and “The Veteran’s Vault.” A copy of the interview is given, at no charge, to the veteran and thanks to the local chapter of the DAR, a copy is also sent to the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
