Stephen Smith
Stephen is a 1979 graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Petroleum Tech program and has been with the Regulator in its various forms, since his graduation. Stephen has worked throughout the organization doing Reserves, Applications Audit, and led the Facilities Applications areas. In 1996 Stephen worked with several consultants and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce to assist in the development and implementation of the AER’s Appropriate Dispute Resolution program and has been an advocate of alternative dispute resolution ever since.
In his subsequent work in Fort McMurray as Executive manager of the Oil Sands Branch and then as the Executive Manager of the Applications Branch at the ERCB Stephen has had ample opportunity to utilize and learn the value of collaboration and dispute resolution.
Stephen is now working with the National and International Stakeholder and Government Relations Division.
