Marylyn R Harris
A committed Veterans Advocate, Marylyn has been a “Voice” for Veteran economic opportunities and advancement for over a decade. Marylyn started Harrland Healthcare Consulting, a Management Consulting Company, in 2007. She was one of the first SDVOSBs to become a “VA-verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business” in the US. Marylyn is a former US Army Nurse and Gulf War Veteran. Her education includes advanced degrees in Psychiatric Nursing (MSN) and Business (MBA). In 2010, Marylyn created the country’s first Women Veterans Business Center in Houston (Texas), a city that is home to over 30,000 Women Veterans with Texas being home to the largest population of Women Veterans (180,000 as of 9/30/2015, Center for Women Veterans). Marylyn served as the National Ambassador to the V-WISE (Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Program) from 2011 – 2014. She is a Catalyst that has ushered in this era of Women Veterans Owned Businesses throughout the U.S.
