Tom DeLay


Thomas “Tom” DeLay is the former House Majority Leader, and a former member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Texas's 22nd Congressional District. DeLay was appointed Deputy Minority Whip in 1988. In 1995 he was elected to Majority Whip. DeLay is considered to have been a driving force behind the impeachment of President Clinton in 1998. DeLay was elected House Majority Leader in 2002, and is credited with uniting House Republicans in support of President George W. Bush's agenda.
