Isabel Balaguer


Isabel Balaguer, PhD is a Professor of Social Psychology and Head of the Research Group in Sport Psychology (http://www.uv.es/uipd/) at the University of Valencia, Spain. Her principal interests the optimal development of athletes with a focus on both personal and social dimensions of well being. Author of Entrenamiento psicológico en el deporte: Principios y aplicaciones (1994), a pioneer book in psychological training used as a textbook in numerous Spanish speaking countries. For her contributions and international collaboration, she will receive a doctor honores causa degree from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Isabel has worked with the Spanish Tennis Federation for many years, conducting research and providing sport psychology training for young elite through professional tennis players, parents and coaches. She is the Research Lead of the international REDDECA network (www.reddeca.com), which centers on promoting quality and healthy engagement in sport.
