Judge John Steadman
Judge John M. Steadman was appointed to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan. He assumed Senior Judge status in October 2004.
Judge Steadman was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1952 and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1955, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Judge Steadman practiced law from 1955 to 1970, including serving a position in the Office of Legal Counsel of the United States Department of Justice. Upon leaving government service, Judge Steadman began teaching law. Judge Steadman has been married to Alison S. Lunt since April 8, 1961. They have three children and six grandchildren.
