Katherine Goodman

Katherine Goodman is a professor at University of Colorado Denver at Inworks, an initiative aimed at bringing together students, faculty, and community members to work on hard human problems that matter. At Inworks, students practice human-centered design in multidisciplinary teams. Kate is passionate about guiding students in unusual learning experiences. She researches transformative experiences in higher education — those moments when students connect what they learn in the classroom with the “real world,” a process that taps into perceptual expertise, creativity, and motivation. She holds a BS in Mathematics from Valparaiso University, a Master of Professional Writing from University of Southern California, and a PhD in Technology, Media, and Society from the University of Colorado Boulder, where she also earned a graduate certificate in Cognitive Science. Kate lives in the Denver area with her husband and their three children.
